Cedillo’s numbers drop as vote count continues

In a vote count that is still razor-thin, upstart candidate Joe Bray-Ali appears to have brought incumbent First District Councilmember Gil Cedillo’s current vote total to below the 50% +1 needed to win the First District council race outright.

In results posted Tuesday, March 14, at 3:37 p.m. by the LA County Registrar-Recorder’s office, Cedillo, with a total of 9.459 votes, has dropped to a 49.51% margin, not enough to claim victory. Bray-Ali,  while not gaining a tremendous number of additional votes, was helped by write-in votes for Luca Barton as well as votes for additional candidates in the race.

More voting results will be announced tomorrow, and every day until all ballots are counted. California State law mandates that all elections be certified no more than 30 days after an election.
